Out of an abundance of caution and to give concerned pet parents added peace of mind, we had our pork products, training treats and products containing grain ingredients tested for the presence of melamine. The chemical analyses were conducted by Eurofins Scientific, a leading international group of laboratories providing testing to numerous worldwide industries and governments. We are unsurprised, but happy to report to you, the results of these exhaustive tests confirmed what we’ve been saying all along – that our products are completely safe. We remain absolutely committed to providing you and your companion animals with truly superior, health-promoting products.

Updated on 5/4/07

Dear Pet Parent,

The past few weeks have been extremely hard on companion animals and their families. It seems that every few days, we receive news of additional pet food recalls.

A recent wave of recalled pet foods – including foods made by Blue Buffalo, Costco, Natural Balance, Royal Canin and others – was due to contaminated rice protein concentrate. None of our products include this ingredient.

Menu Foods has further expanded their extensive recall to include other products that were cross-contaminated by wheat gluten containing melamine. And the contaminated rice protein concentrate was used in facilities operated by American Nutrition. None of our products are manufactured in any of the facilities where these contaminated ingredients were used. There is absolutely no danger that our foods were contaminated.

And, as you are probably aware, chickens have been fed the contaminated pet food product. We have been reassured by the FDA that this poultry is safe for consumption, not only by companion animals but by humans as well, because the contaminated food is not being eaten directly by either group. In any case, we have no reason to believe that these chickens were used in any of our foods.

We are fully confident that our products are completely safe. As you know, we employ numerous safety and quality controls to ensure the highest quality products. Our ingredients and foods undergo multiple tests, throughout the course of the manufacturing process.

All of the more than 5,300 recalled pet food products included contaminated ingredients imported from China. Again, none of our products include these contaminated ingredients. Aside from the contamination issue, we consider these ingredients to be inferior sources of protein, and therefore do not use them in any of our products. In fact, we have never used these ingredients, and you have our assurances that we never will. Our foods, treats and supplements include only human-quality ingredients sourced from trusted U.S. suppliers.

-----------------------------------------------------------
As many of you already know, a new wave of recalls has been announced in the last 24 hours. (4-18-2007) Evidence suggesting that a shipment of the ingredient “Rice Protein Concentrate” contained melamine has come to light. Natural Balance, Royal Canin and Blue Buffalo have all announced recalls of their products containing this ingredient.

We have had several inquiries regarding our foods, since Life’s Abundance contains “whole brown rice”. Some consumers are confused, as the newly recalled Natural Balance foods include “brown rice” in their names. However, the contaminated ingredient is not brown rice; instead, it is “Rice Protein Concentrate”. None of our products include this ingredient.

Additionally, it is believed that this contaminated ingredient, like the wheat gluten involved in prior recalls, was imported from China. We use only human-quality ingredients from U.S. sources in our foods. There is no chance that this ingredient came into contact with any of our products.

We are fully confident that our foods, as well as all of our products, are completely safe. All of the products covered in the recalls of recent weeks included either wheat gluten or rice protein concentrate (and possibly corn gluten) in their formulas. We consider these ingredients to be unnecessary fillers, and as you know, we do not use fillers in any of our foods.

We continue to maintain very strict quality control measures in the manufacture of all of our foods, treats, care products and supplements. As we have noted previously, we devote a great deal of energy into using only the best vendors in the market, so that only the highest quality ingredients are included in our products.

We encourage you to contact your customers to let them know that all HealthyPetNet products are completely safe.

We will continue to monitor these developments and work diligently to provide the safest, healthiest options for your consumers and their companion animals.

Best regards,
Trilogy International

March 19, 2007 –Worries about food safety hit America's pet owners last weekend as they came to grips with a dog and cat food recall affecting 88 varieties of mostly canned "cuts and gravy" selections.

In all, about 60 million cans and foil pouches of items made by Streetsville, Canada-based Menu Foods Income Fund were being recalled.

As the food became linked to at least 10 recent animal deaths, pet owners began making nervous calls to their veterinarians and flooding the Canadian company's phone lines. Many of the best-known U.S. brands of pet food are on the recall list.

By now, you are probably familiar with the extensive national recall of many brands of pet foods. Sadly, several dogs and cats have been sickened, and a few have died as a result of eating contaminated food. This is a tragic event, and our hearts go out to the families who are dealing with the heartache of this situation.

We want to reassure you that none of HealthyPetNet’s products are affected by this recall. At present, authorities believe the illnesses to be caused by contaminated wheat gluten. As you already know, none of HealthyPetNet’s products include wheat gluten or wheat products of any kind.

We ask that you convey this information to your customers, should they have any questions about the safety of our products.
